Overview

For more than 40 years, Rothwell Figg has represented some of the biggest names in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in a variety of industries, ranging from fashion, pharmaceuticals, and automotive to food and wine, with their intellectual property and technology needs.

By virtue of the varied backgrounds of the members of our team, we know, both culturally and economically, what our EMEA clients expect of us in terms of business perspective and legal needs. From Sweden to South Africa and Ireland to Israel, our team has proven time and again that we can bridge the gap between American and foreign law, while working seamlessly with our EMEA counterparts to efficiently implement global strategies. We have deep experience providing legal counsel on all aspects of IP prosecution and portfolio management, including patents, trademarks, trade dress, designs, and copyrights, as well as assisting EMEA clients in the U.S. in relation to counterfeiting, customs, privacy and cybersecurity, and litigation and dispute resolution of all kinds.

Our firm works with a tight-knit, trusted network of local counsel in the EMEA to assist clients before the European Patent Office (EPO), the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). In addition, we have worked with local counsel to file and prosecute a number of cases at the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), an organization with headquarters in Moscow. Our team is particularly active in representing clients from Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and the UK.
