Overview

Mary L. Mullins assists with a variety of patent law issues including legal research and legal writing for various patent and IP litigation matters, drafting office actions during patent prosecution, as well as analyzing and compiling patent histories. Her clients are both established and emerging technology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as research scientists and professionals.

Prior to her legal studies, Mary completed a Master of Science in Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida. Her graduate research included a detailed analysis of the potential link between single nucleotide polymorphisms and dietary habits, a project that culminated in a co-authored research poster. Her undergraduate education was at Virginia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with a minor in chemistry, graduating magna cum laude. During her undergraduate years she was a Teaching Assistant for biology courses, emphasizing her strong foundation in the sciences. She was consistently recognized on the Dean’s List and was a recipient of the Anne B. Duncan Scholarship.

Mary’s practical legal experience includes working as a Summer Associate in Rothwell Figg’s Washington, D.C. office. She engaged in extensive legal research and composed memoranda for a variety of cases involving patent, copyright, and trademark law.

She received her J.D. at the University of Richmond with a concentration in Intellectual Property, graduating cum laude. There, she was an active member of Richmond Women’s Law, the Student Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. She earned her certificate as a Patent Agent demonstrating her preparedness to handle patent prosecution related matters. She was awarded a 3rd Year Practice Certificate, demonstrating her preparedness to handle legal matters under supervision before obtaining her full legal license.
