Partner Dan Shores will moderate the panel "Collateral Impact: Effects of New Drug Pricing Policies on IP Rights" at the Federal Circuit Bar Association (FCBA) 2024 Boston Major Regional Program taking place Friday, April 5, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts. Rothwell Figg is a proud sponsor of the event.
The steady push by policymakers to impose regulations with the stated goals of lowering drug prices has come at a major cost to IP rights and the innovation ecosystem. Attendees will hear from Dan and a distinguished panel that will address at least two of these initiatives – the use of "march-in-rights" under the Bayh-Dole Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. The focus will be on impacts on innovation and Boston’s diverse biotech ecosystem that includes universities, healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical companies, startups, investors, and others.
The program will also hold sessions on:
- One Year After Amgen v. Sanofi: Its Impact on Biotech and Pharmaceutical Patents
- Nonstatutory Double Patenting Post-In re Cellect
- U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Judicial Panel
The FCBA Major Regional Program (MRP) outreach underscores the interconnectivity of the Circuit community. Legal counsel and corporate enterprise are brought together to be a part of a community built on informed discussion.
The FCBA is a national organization for the bar of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Leadership of the Association comes from all areas of the country and represents all areas of the legal community of the Federal Circuit. The Association was organized to unite the different groups who practice within the legal community of the Federal Circuit. It seeks to strengthen and serve the Court through its Committees. The Association offers a forum for common concerns and dialogue between bar and court, government counsel and private practitioner, litigator, and corporate counsel.
