Lisa N. Phillips
Lisa N. Phillips focuses her practice on litigation and has extensive experience in all aspects of patent litigation in the U.S. district courts. She also has experience in patent interference proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board and in investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission. She has participated in several appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit including appeals of both U.S. district court decisions and PTAB interference decisions. Ms. Phillips has handled cases covering pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and chemical technologies and has particular expertise in Hatch-Waxman litigation.
Ms. Phillips also has experience in providing clients with infringement, validity and enforceability opinions in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical technology areas. In addition to opinion work, she has experience in drafting agreements relating to licensing, joint development projects involving ownership of intellectual property rights, and providing support in the negotiation of agreements relating to settlement of patent infringement litigation.
Ms. Phillips received her B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University in 1987. She then worked in research at a small pharmaceutical company in Baltimore, focusing on mammalian receptor systems. After working as a researcher and in administrative positions in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors for ten years, she obtained her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2000. While at George Mason University School of Law, she successfully completed the Intellectual Property Law specialty track program. Ms. Phillips was admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2001 and has been a member of the District of Columbia Bar since 2004. She is a member of the American Bar Association.
